She should try to convince her of the obligation of , citing verse 59 of Al-Ahzab. It must be emphasized that honoring one's parents is obligatory, as stated in verses 15 of Surah Al-Ahqaf and 23 of Surah Al-Isra, but obedience to Allah takes precedence over obedience to parents if they conflict, as the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "There is no obedience to a creature in disobedience to the Creator."
