The answer

The causes of the problem must be sought and resolved through lawful means. A wise wife understands that her husband has two rights: the prior right of his mother and her own right, and thus she should be an aid to him. The husband must be dutiful to his mother, maintain ties of kinship, and fulfill his wife's rights without shortcoming. He should pray to Allah to guide everyone. Boycotting the husband's family is not permissible if the estrangement lasts more than three days, due to the Prophet's (peace be upon him) saying: "It is not lawful for a Muslim to forsake his brother for more than three days."
