The answer

Celebrating annually recurring anniversaries, such as birthdays, wedding anniversaries, or victory days, is considered a forbidden innovation (bid'ah). Glorifying the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, is achieved by following his law (Shari'ah), not by engaging in innovated celebrations. Muslims must follow the path of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, and his Companions, and abandon newly invented innovations. There is no basis for celebrating a wedding anniversary, as it constitutes the creation of a holiday that Allah has not legislated.
