What is the ruling on reciting Al-Fatiha or Surah Ya-Sin and dedicating their reward to the soul of a deceased person?

The principle of dedicating the reward of reciting the Quran to the deceased is permissible. This is done by performing the recitation with the intention of drawing closer to Allah and dedicating its reward to another. However, one must beware of falling into innovation (bid'ah), such as hiring a reciter, or reciting in a group, or singling out a specific surah (definition) or person for recitation with the belief that it brings benefit or repels harm.
