What is the ruling on taking insurance compensation for physical and psychological damages resulting from a traffic accident for a pedestrian?

If the financial compensation results from a life insurance contract, it is impermissible under Islamic law because it is a forbidden contract involving gharar (definition) (excessive uncertainty), jahalah (ignorance), and maysir (definition) (gambling). It is not permissible for the contracting party to take more than the installments paid to the company. However, if the compensation is due to an injured person from a party that caused the harm, and this party referred to an insurance company, there is no impediment to taking the compensation because it is a recovery of one's right.
