Is it permissible to participate in an online game that involves purchasing certificates for a certain amount, then selling them to recover the money and make a profit?

This game is not a matter of buying and selling; rather, it is forbidden gambling and illicit gain that falls under the general category of Maysir (definition) (gambling) which Allah Almighty has prohibited in His statement: "O you who have believed, indeed, intoxicants, gambling, [sacrificing on] stone altars [to other than Allah], and divining arrows are but defilement from the work of Satan, so avoid it that you may be successful."
