Is it permissible to kill pigeons that cause disturbance and pollution due to their abundant presence above the house?

Birds are nations among the nations of animals created by Allah Almighty. It is not permissible to kill them except to achieve a benefit or avert a harm. If pigeons cause harm and nuisance, then there is no objection to killing them if there is no other way to get rid of them, provided that they are killed in a way that makes their meat halal (definition) to be eaten, and with excellence in killing, in compliance with the words of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him: "And when you kill, kill well."
