The question

Is it considered disbelief for a person suffering from obsessive doubts (waswas) to say to himself, "If I complete the supplication before the Imam stands, then Allah knows what is in my soul," as an attempt to دفع (ward off) the whispers of disbelief, even though Allah knows that in all circumstances?

The answer

"Leave these whisperings and pay no attention to them. You have not left the fold of Islam because of them. The best remedy for them is to resist them and not to give in to them. These whisperings do not harm you as long as you dislike them and strive against them; rather, you are upon goodness."
