What is the ruling on building a school or using part of an endowment (waqf) land as a football field without paying rent for it?

Endowed land may not be disposed of except for the benefit of the endowment. If it was endowed for the construction of a mosque, it is not permissible to use it for anything else unless there is an overriding benefit. If it was endowed for its income to be spent on the mosque, the supervisor should consider what is most beneficial. Usurping endowed property is not permissible. Whoever seizes endowed land is obligated to return it to the endowment's supervisor and pay its rent.
