Are these divisions and differences that exist today what the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, told us about in the Hadith regarding the division of the Ummah into 73 sects?
Adhere to the Muslim community and their leader, listen and obey, even if your back is struck and your wealth is taken.
It has been authentically reported that the Prophet (peace be upon him) said: "The Jews split into seventy-one sects, and the Christians split into seventy-two sects, and this Ummah will split into seventy-three sects, all of them in the Fire except one." It was asked: "Who are they, O Messenger of Allah?" He replied: "Those who are upon what I and my Companions are upon." In some narrations: "It is the Jama'ah (the community)."
The blameworthy sects are those who differed with the people of truth concerning the fundamentals of Tawheed (monotheism), the conditions of prophethood, and showing loyalty to the Companions. It does not refer to those who differ in the branches of fiqh concerning matters of halal and haram.
