How can a young married man, who is diligent in prayer and fasting and works for Islam, perform sincere repentance after having committed adultery three times with a married woman? Will his repentance be accepted without the execution of the prescribed punishment? And how can he erase the effect of this sin from himself and resist returning to it, especially after having performed the Hajj pilgrimage?

It is from the mercy of Allah Almighty that He forgives all sins for whoever repents of them with a sincere and heartfelt repentance, as Allah Almighty says: ﴿Say, "O My servants who have transgressed against themselves [by sinning], do not despair of the mercy of Allah. Indeed, Allah forgives all sins. Indeed, it is He who is the Forgiving, the Merciful."﴾ [Az-Zumar: 53]. Moreover, Allah transforms the evil deeds of the repentant into good deeds.

Repentance has essential conditions: immediately abstaining from the sin, regretting what has passed, resolving not to return to it, and returning the rights of those whom one has wronged. Among the steps that aid in repentance are: being mindful of Allah, knowing the harms of sins, remembering death, keeping away from places of disobedience and their companions, remembering Paradise and Hell, associating with the righteous, performing obligations and abandoning prohibitions, remembering the enormity of the sin and its evil consequences, and frequently remembering Allah and sending blessings upon the Prophet (peace be upon him).
