Is it permissible to offer money or clothes to the family of the deceased instead of the food that the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, commanded be given to Ja'far's family?

Providing clothes or money to the deceased's family does not take the place of preparing food for them, because the Prophet commanded that food be made for the deceased's family due to their preoccupation with their calamity, preventing them from preparing it for themselves. Nevertheless, showing kindness by giving clothes or money to the needy among the deceased's family is good in itself, and Islamic law generally encourages it for anyone who is in need.
