There is no objection to a girl searching for good qualities in a husband, and the best way to do so is by asking trustworthy individuals about him. As stated in the Hadith: "As for Abu Jahm, he does not put down his stick from his shoulder, and as for Mu'awiyah, he is a pauper with no wealth. Marry Usamah ibn Zayd." It is important to note the error of the prospective spouses sitting together in seclusion or going out together, as this contravenes both Islamic law and common sense. Each might put on an act for the other, which could lead to the failure of the marriage later on.
