What is the ruling concerning an old woman, 80 years of age, who has not performed her obligatory prayers despite advice, and what will be her fate on the Day of Resurrection?

If a woman repents, her repentance is hoped to be accepted. According to the majority of scholars, she must make up for the prayers she missed. Some say she is not required to make them up, but rather should strive in seeking forgiveness and performing supererogatory acts of worship. However, if she insists on abandoning prayer, she is in grave danger, for intentionally abandoning even a single prayer is a great sin. Some scholars even go as far as declaring someone who abandons prayer out of laziness to be a disbeliever, based on the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, saying: "Between a man and polytheism and disbelief is the abandonment of prayer," and Umar, may Allah be pleased with him, saying: "There is no share in Islam for one who abandons prayer." Therefore, it is obligatory to explain the gravity of this matter to her and encourage her to sincere repentance.
