The answer

Divorce takes effect through explicit wording or through allusive wording accompanied by intention. It does not take effect through words that do not carry the meaning of divorce, such as "sit down" and the like, even if the husband intended it. Mere obsessions do not result in divorce. Divorce pronounced under the pressure of obsessive thoughts is not valid. If you doubt whether you uttered the divorce, or whether you intended divorce by it, the default is that divorce has not occurred. The certainty of marriage is not removed by a doubt about divorce. One must disregard obsessive thoughts and seek Allah's help and supplicate to be rid of them.
