Is it stipulated for the water used for cleansing (istinja’) what is stipulated for the water used for ablution (wudu’)?

The majority of jurists hold that the removal of impurity from the body or garment is not sufficient except with purifying water, based on the Almighty's saying: "And We sent down from the sky purifying water." Some Hanafis and a narration from Imam Ahmad permit purifying impurity with absolute water or any pure liquid that removes it, and Ibn Taymiyyah preferred this view. However, prudence in religion dictates limiting oneself to purifying water.
