Does divorce occur if a man says to his wife in a state of extreme anger: "If you listen to your mother's words, which cause problems between us, you are divorced," or his saying: "Your divorce is near"?

If a husband makes a divorce conditional upon his wife hearing her mother's words that stir up animosity, then the divorce occurs simply upon hearing them. However, if he makes it conditional upon her responding to her mother's incitement, then she is not divorced unless she responds, and this is the view of the majority of scholars. Ibn Taymiyyah, however, held that if the intention behind the condition was to prevent an action, not to cause the divorce to occur, then it does not take place. The occurrence of divorce in a state of anger does not prevent its occurrence, and the statement "your divorce is near" does not constitute a divorce.
