What is the ruling on eggs found inside a dead chicken?

The egg extracted from a dead hen can be in one of two states:

1. Solid: It is pure (tahir) and permissible to eat, because its solidity prevents impurity (najasa) from spreading into its interior. Its exterior is impure (najis) and becomes pure by washing (according to the Hanafis and Hanbalis, the soundest view among the Shafi'is, and one opinion among the Malikis). 2. Soft (wet): It is impure (najis) and forbidden to eat (unanimously among the Malikis, the soundest view among the Shafi'is, and the relied-upon view among the Hanbalis). The Hanafis held that it is pure and permissible to eat.
