Is what families in some Algerian wilayas do by celebrating the "First of Spring" on the first of March, by preparing special sweets, boiling eggs, buying oranges and sweets for children, and going out for picnics, considered an innovation (bid'ah) or a custom and tradition?

The actions mentioned are manifestations of a festival (Eid), and it is not legislated for us to adopt any festival other than what Allah has legislated. In the Hadith: "The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) arrived in Medina, and they had two days in which they would play. He said: 'What are these two days?' They said: 'We used to play in them during the جاهلية (pre-Islamic era).' The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said: 'Indeed, Allah has replaced them for you with something better than them: the day of Al-Adha and the day of Al-Fitr.'" Any festival other than these two is an innovated, newly invented festival. The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said: "Whoever introduces into this matter of ours something that does not belong to it will have it rejected."
