Is a person sinful if he sells an ancient, embodied statue—with his knowledge of the unlawfulness of its price—and then uses its price to pay interest on usurious bank loans for his friends who pledged not to return to usurious borrowing?

The making of statues was previously forbidden, and their destruction was obligatory. The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, also prohibited the sale of idols. Jabir ibn Abdullah narrated that the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "Indeed, Allah and His Messenger have forbidden the sale of intoxicants, dead animals, swine, and idols." Therefore, what the person did is unlawful, and good intentions do not intercede for him. He must repent and resolve not to return to such an act.
