How can one respond to Christians who claim that Muslims are compelled to believe in Jesus (peace be upon him), while they are not compelled to believe in Muhammad (peace be upon him)?

The discourse of Christians contains both truth and falsehood. The truth is the obligation for Muslims to believe in the prophethood of Jesus, peace be upon him, because it is one of the pillars of faith, as stated in the verse: "The Messenger has believed in what was revealed to him from his Lord, and [so have] the believers. All of them have believed in Allah and His angels and His books and His messengers, [saying], 'We make no distinction between any of His messengers.'" As for the falsehood, it is their claim that they are not compelled to believe in the prophethood of Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him. The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "By Him in whose hand is the soul of Muhammad, no one from this nation, neither a Jew nor a Christian, hears of me and then dies without believing in that with which I was sent, but he will be among the inhabitants of the Hellfire." The Gospel itself gave glad tidings of the prophethood of Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him, yet they deny it out of stubbornness.

Two points must be highlighted: 1. The People of the Book are disbelievers and will abide eternally in Hellfire if they die upon their disbelief. 2. It is not permissible to engage in debate with them except after acquiring proper Islamic scholarly qualifications, to avoid falling into doubts.
