What is the stance regarding the fatwas and teachings of those in positions of authority at Al-Azhar who declare that their doctrine is Ash'ari and that it is the correct doctrine, and that anyone else is either a corporealist (mujassim) or from the Khawarij?

The evidence lies in the revelation, embodied in the Book of Allah and the Sunnah of His Messenger (peace be upon him), and in the understanding of the righteous predecessors of the Ummah, namely the Companions and the Tabi'un, and those who followed them in goodness. Their methodology is the correct one that must be followed; it serves as the standard for other methodologies. Whatever conforms to it is accepted, and whatever contradicts it is rejected. Among the etiquettes of seeking knowledge is to choose well from whom the student receives knowledge, and that the chosen person be known for integrity in belief and action.
