To what extent is the hadith sound: "O Allah, I ask You, by virtue of Your being Allah, there is no god but You, the One, the Self-Sufficient, Who begets not nor is begotten, and to Whom none is equal; the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful; the Ever-Living, the Sustainer; the Bestower; the Originator of the heavens and the earth; Possessor of Majesty and Honor, that You grant us Paradise without reckoning," and the subsequent saying attributed to the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him: "Whoever recites this supplication and conveys it to others, a house will be built for him in Paradise"?

The entire report is baseless, and the supplication contained within it is fabricated from several authentic hadiths regarding the Greatest Name (Ism al-A'dham). A part of it is taken from the hadith (definition) of Buraydah: "O Allah, I ask You, as I bear witness that You are Allah, there is no god but You, the One, the Self-Sufficient, Who begets not, nor is begotten, and there is none comparable to Him." Another part is from the hadith of Anas: "O Allah, I ask You, by virtue of all praise being due to You; there is no god but You, the Bestower, the Originator of the heavens and the earth, O Possessor of Majesty and Honor, O Ever-Living, O Sustainer!" As for the phrase "Whoever recites this supplication...", it has no basis.
