Is treatment with pig fat via the anus permissible or forbidden?

The basic principle is the impermissibility of treating with unlawful or impure substances, based on the Prophet's (peace and blessings be upon him) saying: "Indeed, Allah has sent down both the disease and the cure, and for every disease, He has made a cure. So seek treatment, but do not seek treatment with that which is unlawful." However, it is permissible in cases of necessity, based on Allah's (the Most High) saying: (And He has explained to you in detail what He has forbidden you, except what you are compelled to [eat or use].) [Al-An'am: 119]. Alcohol is an exception, as it is not permissible to treat with it because it is a disease, based on the Prophet's (peace and blessings be upon him) saying: "It is not a cure, but rather a disease." For the permissibility of treating with unlawful substances, two conditions must be met: that there is no pure alternative that can serve the same purpose, and that a trustworthy physician confirms that this treatment is beneficial and has no alternative. Accordingly, it is not permissible to treat with swine fat or any part thereof except in cases of extreme necessity, provided that there is no permissible alternative, and a trustworthy physician confirms it.
