Is it permissible for the husband to reclaim the gifts he presented to his wife, her family, and others, and is he obliged to seek their recovery, and is one who refuses to return his gift after becoming aware of the situation sinful, especially since the husband gifted his wife gold from money that was later found to be the result of a fraud operation, and the husband is now seeking to clear himself of responsibility for those funds?

The husband does not have the right to reclaim gifts he gave to his wife or her relatives, due to the general evidence prohibiting the donor from retracting his gift. This includes the Prophet's (peace be upon him) saying: "The one who retracts his gift is like a dog that returns to its vomit; we do not have a bad example." Furthermore, marriage and kinship by blood are considered impediments to retracting a gift among jurists. Nevertheless, it is preferable for the wife to give him what he asks if he is in need, and it is not permissible for her to make this gift a substitute for his preventing her from working, because a woman's work and leaving the house are not permissible without her husband's permission.
