Is it permissible for a husband to marry a second wife, knowing that each time he tells his first wife that she is the best of women and that he cannot do without her, even though she has not received her full rights, and each time he tells her that he will not marry another, then retracts his words, and she is pregnant and her psychological state has deteriorated due to his actions?

A husband's bad actions and ill-treatment are against Islamic law, just as polygyny is permissible under certain conditions. The husband should not use polygyny as a threat. The wife should manage her feelings if her husband marries another, knowing that a man marrying another woman does not diminish the wife's standing. Divorce has negative effects on children. It is forbidden for a woman to seek divorce merely because her husband married another. She has the right to seek divorce if she suffers clear harm from remaining with him.
