The answer

Allah Almighty commanded that parents be addressed with politeness, gentleness, humility, and reverence. Therefore, it is not permissible to call either of them by their name, or for a mother to be asked about the father using the phrase "Where is your husband?". Rather, words that convey reverence must be chosen, such as "O my father" and "O my mother". For the noble speech towards parents is like the speech of a sinful servant to a harsh and stern master. And a person should place himself in utmost humility with his parents in his words, actions, and gaze.
