What is the ruling on reading the Qur’an in congregation at funerals, without observing the rules of Tajwid, with the communal pause at the end of the verse and one of the reciters continuing to prolong the sound, which is known as "Eastern recitation"?

Reciting the Qur'an collectively at a funeral, in what is called "al-Sharqi," is a reprehensible innovation. The innovation becomes more severe if people gather at the deceased's family's house and food is served to them. It is obligatory to adhere to the rules of Tajweed when reciting the Qur'an, without excessive lengthening (madd) or lengthening what does not deserve lengthening. The one who does so should be advised to avoid it and to recite the Qur'an in the prescribed manner, while observing the rules of Tajweed. The reward for reciting the Qur'an reaches the deceased if it is dedicated to them.
