Is it permissible for a woman who is engaged to break off her engagement with a person who has not wronged her, in order to return to her former fiancé whom she loved and who wishes to marry her, knowing that the former fiancé did not propose to her while she was engaged, citing the hadith: "None of you should propose to a woman to whom his brother has already proposed," and the hadith: "Marriage is more befitting for those who love each other"?

It is not permissible for you to propose to the girl after she has become inclined to a new suitor, because the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "A man should not propose over the proposal of his brother until he marries or gives up." If the engagement is broken off for the sake of a second suitor, it is forbidden. You must cut off your relationship with the girl and stop talking to her and inciting her to break off the engagement, unless she breaks off the engagement for another reason, in which case there is no harm in you proposing to her at that time. It should be noted that the suitor is a stranger to the woman until the marriage contract is concluded. And the saying "fate willed it" is incorrect, and the correct saying is: "Allah willed it" or "Allah decreed it."
