What is the reward for parents if they patiently endure and thank Allah for the death of their newborn?
The virtue of patience in calamities, including the loss of a child, is immense, as those who are patient will be given their reward without reckoning. Many verses and hadiths describe the general virtue of patience, such as Allah Almighty's saying: "And give good tidings to the patient, who, when disaster strikes them, say, 'Indeed we belong to Allah, and indeed to Him we will return.' Those are the ones upon whom are blessings from their Lord and mercy. And it is those who are the [rightly] guided," and His saying: "Indeed, the patient will be given their reward without reckoning." As for the specific virtue of patience concerning the loss of a child, if a person's child dies and they praise Allah and say "To Allah we belong and to Him we shall return," Allah will build for them a house in Paradise called the House of Praise. Also, whoever loses two or more children and is patient and seeks recompense from Allah, that will be a shield for them from the Fire and a cause for them to enter Paradise. It is recommended for the afflicted person to say: "Indeed, to Allah we belong, and indeed to Him we will return. O Allah, reward me in my calamity and compensate me with something better than it."
