It is permissible to name (a child) with a name that does not include any forbidden elements, and has a correct meaning that does not imply self-praise for the one named. Otherwise, the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, would have changed some names due to their ugliness. It is desirable to name children with commendable names such as: Abdullah, Abdul Rahman, Muhammad, and Ahmed, and to avoid names that are considered reprehensible.
