What is the ruling on preparing food for people at a funeral, and what is the ruling on the deceased's family's guests eating from the food that comes to them?

It is desirable to prepare food for the family of the deceased and offer it to them, for the Prophet ﷺ commanded his family to prepare food for the household of Ja'far when news of his death preoccupied them. As for the family of the deceased preparing food for people, this is impermissible and considered an act of Jahiliyyah (pre-Islamic ignorance) and wailing, unless it is for guests without intent related to the deceased, or if they invite others to share the food that was gifted to them.
