What are the facilitating causes for knowing God and appreciating Him as He truly deserves?

The best knowledge is that which guides you to the معرفة (knowledge) of Allah, to fear Him, to be pious towards Him, and to turn to Him in repentance. This is achieved through contemplating Allah's recited and visible creations, and reflecting on His signs. Allah invites His servants to know Him by pondering His manifest signs and by studying His audible, comprehensible verses. The Quran is the word of Allah, and in it, Allah has revealed Himself to His servants through His various attributes. When a person profoundly reflects upon the Quran with the understanding of the Righteous Predecessors (Salaf as-Salih), it reveals to him the majesty and greatness of Allah, the beauty of His perfection, His mercy and justice, His hearing and knowledge, His sufficiency and honor. This, in turn, engenders love, fear, hope, reliance, and submission to Him.
