The answer

It is not permissible for a Muslim to benefit from the usurious gains of banks because it is ill-gotten wealth. Allah has declared war on those who consume usury. A Muslim must repent from usury, take back only their principal, and dispose of the interest by returning it to its owner if possible. Otherwise, it should be given to the poor and needy. It is not permissible to use it for building mosques or for paying personal taxes, as that constitutes benefiting from ill-gotten wealth.
