It is not permissible for a wife to leave her husband's house except with his permission, nor is it permissible for her to refuse to return to him unless there is a legitimate Shar'i reason; otherwise, she is disobedient (nashiz). It is not permissible for a wife to seek divorce unless there is a legitimate Shar'i reason; otherwise, the husband is not obligated to grant her request, or he may seek Khul' (dissolution of marriage). The father's action of taking his daughter from her husband's house and preventing her return without a legitimate Shar'i justification is reprehensible, and he should not be obeyed in this matter. It is advisable to resort to a Shar'i judge or to seek reconciliation between the spouses.
