What is meant by "great tribulation and corruption" in the Hadith: "If someone whose religion and character you approve comes to you, marry him; otherwise, there will be tribulation on earth and great corruption"?

The referred Hadith was classified as good by Al-Albani. The meaning of "widespread temptation (fitna) and corruption (fasad)" in the Hadith is that if a pious man of good character and religious commitment is not married off, it leads to both men and women remaining unmarried, which in turn increases immorality (fawahish) and its precursors. This results in great corruption and may even lead to the disruption of lineage and a decrease in righteousness and chastity.
