What is legally incumbent regarding the custody of children (a 14-year-old girl and a 5½-year-old boy) after divorce, given that the father works abroad in Saudi Arabia?

A child remains in the custody of his mother until he reaches the age of seven if she is a trustworthy Muslim woman residing in her country and has not remarried. When he reaches seven, he is given the choice between his parents, unless one of them is traveling or not deemed trustworthy to raise him. As for an adult, there is no custody for them, and they choose their place of residence. The mature girl, according to the majority of scholars, has the choice to reside with either of her parents.
