Is it prescribed for someone praying alone to say the Adhan and Iqamah for his prayer?

1 min readAlso available in العربية

It is recommended for a person praying alone to perform thel adhan (call to prayer) and iqamah (second call to prayer), based on the Prophet's (peace and blessings be upon him) saying: "Your Lord is pleased with a shepherd at the peak of a mountain who calls the adhan for prayer and prays. Allah, the Almighty and Majestic, says: 'Look at My servant here, he calls the adhan and performs the iqamah for prayer, fearing Me. I bear witness to you that I have forgiven My servant and admitted him into Paradise.'" It is disliked for him to omit them, but the prayer is valid without them.
