Does the Imam's delivery of a sermon to those present after burying the deceased have a basis in the religion?

Delivering a sermon at a burial, to remind those present of death and what comes after it, is legislated and supported by the Sunnah (definition) of the Prophet. Abu Dawud and Ahmad narrated from Al-Bara’ bin Azib (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) sat by a grave and spoke about the states of a servant at death and thereafter. Scholars have used this hadith (definition) as evidence for the permissibility of reminding people at a burial.
