Is it permissible or forbidden to take out an interest-bearing loan when necessary?

Borrowing from a bank with interest is usury (riba), which is Islamically forbidden. Allah has warned those who deal in usury, and the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, cursed the one who consumes usury, the one who feeds it, its scribe, and its two witnesses. Borrowing with interest is permissible in cases of extreme necessity where there is a fear of harm to oneself, one's limb, one's honor, one's mind, or one's wealth. However, luxuries or saving money to upgrade a business are not considered genuine necessities that permit borrowing with interest.
