What is the ruling on drinking beer, and is it considered an intoxicant, knowing that some types contain a percentage of alcohol while others do not?

Beer is of two types: intoxicating and non-intoxicating. The intoxicating type is forbidden to drink, sell, or buy, whether in small or large quantities, due to the Prophet's (peace be upon him) saying: "Every intoxicant is Khamr, and every intoxicant is unlawful," and "Whatever intoxicates in large quantities, a small quantity of it is unlawful." As for non-intoxicating beer, which is free of alcohol or contains a negligible amount that does not intoxicate no matter how much one drinks, it is permissible. The basic principle regarding things is permissibility, and nothing is forbidden except with evidence. The beer commonly found in some markets is permissible as long as it has been tested and found to be free of alcohol. A negligible proportion of intoxicant in something does not render it unlawful unless it is effective and leads to intoxication.
