The answer

If the society is one of disbelief, then it is obligatory to emigrate from it, because the Prophet disavowed anyone who resided among the polytheists and said: "Their fires should not be visible to each other," due to the harms of residing there on the resident and their family. However, if you are unable to emigrate, then it is obligatory to uphold your religion to the best of your ability, protect your children and spouse from perishing, and strive for emigration. There is no harm in the residence of someone who possesses deep knowledge and firm faith for the purpose of da'wah (inviting to Islam) and teaching goodness, provided that they and their family are safe from falling into evil deeds.
