The suitor, like other non-mahram (definition) men, is not permitted to be alone with his fiancée or to speak with her except with proper etiquette, and she must adhere to the legal hijab (definition). It is permissible to recite غزلي (amorous) poetry that is free from obscenity, descriptions of charms, or specific flirtation, provided that the poet does not explicitly refer to a specific woman by mentioning her attributes, and does not excessively praise his wife or slave woman, otherwise his testimony would be rejected. As for a woman reading such poetry addressed to her, even though its composition is not permissible, it is more appropriate for her to avoid it to protect herself.
