If the bank is usurious (Riba-based), and the capital acquired from it is unlawful (haram), then it must be disposed of by spending it on the interests of Muslims or giving it to the poor. The worker may not benefit from it unless he is poor and in need, in which case he may take from it only what he needs. As for working for commercial insurance companies, it is unlawful (haram), whereas Takaful (Islamic cooperative) insurance is permissible. If the bank is Islamic, then what is earned from it is lawful (halal), and it is permissible to benefit from it, but it is not permissible to invest it in unlawful areas.
