Is it obligatory for someone who stole several things in his youth to return them immediately, or is it permissible to return them gradually? And is it incumbent upon him to investigate everything he suspects he stole, despite suffering from obsessive-compulsive disorder and the approaching date of the baccalaureate exam, or is it permissible for him to postpone that until after the exam?

"Whoever steals while young, before reaching puberty, incurs no sin, for the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: 'The pen is lifted from three: from the sleeper until he awakens, from the child until he reaches puberty, and from the insane person until he regains his sanity.'"

"However, he must guarantee what he stole, because the absence of accountability removes the sin but does not remove the obligation of restitution. Repentance from injustices against people is not complete except by returning the right to its owner and seeking their forgiveness, for the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: 'The hand is responsible for what it took until it returns it.'"

"If you are able to return it now, you must hasten to do so, because repentance is an immediate obligation. Delaying a right from its owner while being able to return it is an act of injustice and oppression."

"As for if you are in straitened circumstances, you must resolve to return it whenever you are able, unless you are absolved by its owners."

"Regarding what you doubt you stole, the default is the exoneration of your responsibility, and you are not required to delve into it merely due to doubt."

"Based on this, what you know with certainty to be rights, or what you predominantly believe to be so, you must fulfill whenever you are able. As for what you doubt, do not trouble yourself with it."
