Is it permissible for a woman to supplicate that her only husband in Paradise be a specific person (who died before her marriage to him), even though she was not married to him in this world? And should she continue to supplicate for him?

Islam encourages marriage due to the benefits it entails, such as safeguarding one's chastity and increasing progeny. Marriage, given the need for it, is better than supererogatory acts of worship. A woman who dies without marrying will be married in Paradise, because there are no bachelors there. However, a woman should not remain unmarried in hopes of becoming the wife of a man who has died, as this goes against the prophetic guidance, nor should she supplicate for that. Remaining unmarried is, at the very least, disliked, and may lead to temptation and straying from religion.
