Did any of the Muslim caliphs order the cursing of Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) from the pulpits?

Cursing Ali ibn Abi Talib, may Allah be pleased with him, is an unacceptable denial. He was revered by the Caliphs before him and by Mu'awiyah, who acknowledged his virtues and prayed for Allah's mercy upon him. What is mentioned about Mu'awiyah cursing Ali was refuted by Ibn Kathir as a lie. Even if what is mentioned about some Umayyad rulers and the Khawarij cursing Ali were true, it is rejected, for it is impermissible to hate, curse, or revile any of the Companions.
