Does the mission of sponsoring an orphan end when he reaches maturity, and does the sponsor thereby receive the reward for sponsoring an orphan? And does the hadith about accompanying the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, in Paradise mean that the sponsor will accompany the Prophet regardless of his sins? And is it advisable for a well-off man to marry a widow who has a son older than him, with the intention of lawful polygyny and sponsoring the orphan and raising him according to Islamic law and the Sunnah, while preserving the orphan's lineage to his father?

The reward for sponsoring an orphan is specific to those who have not reached puberty, based on the Prophet's (peace be upon him) saying, "There is no orphanhood after reaching puberty." The sponsor of an orphan will be close in status to the Prophet (peace be upon him) in Paradise, as stated in the hadith, "I and the sponsor of an orphan will be in Paradise like these two," and this great virtue applies to anyone who takes an orphan into their care and spends on them. It has been reported in some narrations of the hadith, "if he fears Allah (has taqwa)," and some commentators have specified this 'taqwa' (piety) to be regarding the orphan, while others have generalized it. However, sponsoring an orphan cannot be used to justify sins. As for marrying a widow with the intention of caring for her children, this is a good deed and carries a great reward.
