The answer

There is no harm in asking Allah to see the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, in a dream out of yearning to see him. Indeed, seeing him, peace and blessings be upon him, in a dream is permissible and has occurred, as he said: "Whoever sees me in a dream has seen me, for Satan cannot impersonate me." However, seeking visions to benefit from them in matters of religion or worldly affairs is not a sound approach, because religion is not taken from dreams, and the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, does not know the unseen. Moreover, this approach may open a door for Satan's deception and the temptation of a person. Scholars have agreed that legal rulings are not derived from dreams, and visions must be presented to the Sharia. If they conform to it, they are accepted; otherwise, they must be abandoned. A believer who loves the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, should read his Sunnah and biography and adhere to the Book and the Sunnah, for they are the path to salvation.
