Must one who intentionally broke their fast in Ramadan by eating or masturbating make up those days, even if they do not know the number of days they broke their fast?

Intentionally breaking the fast in Ramadan is a grave sin, and one must repent for it and seek forgiveness. It is obligatory to make up for the days broken by masturbation if semen was ejaculated. If no semen was ejaculated, then there is no make-up. Similarly, it is obligatory to make up for the days broken by intentionally eating food. According to the preponderant opinion, expiation is not required in addition to making up the days. If someone masturbated out of ignorance of its prohibition, then there is no make-up for them. If the number of days to be made up is unknown, then one must continue making up days until they are certain their obligation has been fulfilled.
